Seal Harbor
Small and residential, Seal Harbor is a strategic east-side base near Jordan Pond, Day Mountain, carriage roads, Wildwood Stables, and the quieter southern entrance to Park Loop Road.

Seal Harbor developed as a quieter summer colony than Bar Harbor. John D. Rockefeller Jr. and Edsel Ford established summer homes here, tying the village to the same Gilded Age network while keeping a more secluded character.
Rockefeller bought The Eyrie in 1910 and expanded it to 99 rooms in 1914. The former estate grounds later became the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden, designed with Beatrix Farrand and built from 1926 to 1930.
